ISLAMABAD – Minister for Privatization, Muhammad Mian Soomro saysprivatisation process will be completed with transparency and efficiency.
Addressing a news conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Ministeron Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan in Islamabad onWednesday, he said rules of Public Procurement Regulatory Authority andpast court judgments will be fully observed while carrying out theprivatization of the state owned entities.
He said bids have been received for Haveli Bahadur Shah Plant of 1230 MWand Balloki plant of 1,223 MW, which shows their trust on presentgovernment’s economic policies.
He said sale transactions of six entities will be completed this financialyear.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Privatization Rizwan Malik said theproceedings of the privatization will be utilized on debt servicing andpublic welfare projects.
He said huge response was seen during the road shows held by theprivatization commission in various countries and after a period of tenyears, strategic sale will restart in Pakistan.
The Secretary Privatisation said due diligence of twenty seven governmentproperties, that are non-utilized, has also been completed.
In her remarks, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the non-functional governmentinstitutions will be privatized to make them functional.
