ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Foreign Office strongly reacts over the US Middle Eastpeace plan.Spokesperson of Foreign Office, Aisha Farooqui has said thatPakistan continues to support a just and lasting solution of thePalestinian issue.

In a statement, she said that Pakistan has seen the announcement of a PeacePlan for the Middle East by the United States.

“Pakistan has consistently supported a two-state solution, as enshrined inthe relevant Security Council and General Assembly Resolutions,” thestatement read.

“Pakistan continues to support a just and lasting solution of thePalestinian issue, through dialogue and negotiations, that leads to therealization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians, including theright of self-determination,” the statement continued.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan calls for the establishment of aviable, independent and contiguous State of Palestine, on the basis ofinternationally-agreed parameters, the pre-1967 borders, and with Al-QudsAl-Sharif as its capital.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday proposed a long-awaitedPalestine-Israel peace plan for resolution of decade long Middle Eastconflict.

The presented plan by Trump seeks to establish a disjointed Palestinianstate largely surrounded by Israel, while giving Israel with most of whatit has sought over decades of conflict.

The plan appears to have little chance of success due its promise to keepJerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital.

Trump also proposed an independent Palestinian state and the recognition ofIsraeli sovereignty over West Bank settlements.
