Indian court releases on custody parole Kashmiri Hurriyat Leader ShahidIslam

SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, a court of India’s National InvestigationAgency (NIA) has granted custody parole of a week to the illegally detainedKashmiri Hurriyat leader, Shahid-ul-Islam.

A Srinagar-based English daily, Greater Kashmir, quoting sources reportedthat Shahid-ul-Islam would be allowed to remain with his family from 10 amto 5 pm and he will have to stay in a nearby police station during thenight. It said that nobody other than the family members would be allowedto meet the Hurriyat leader during the custody parole period.

It is to mention here that Shahid-ul-Islam was arrested by the NIA in July2017 in a false case registered against him and is presently lodged in NewDelhi’s Tihar Jail. His wife, Nuzhat Shah, had survived a heart attack onJanuary 12 this year following which she was rushed to a hospital. Sincethen, his ailing wife and two daughters are demanding his unconditionalrelease.
