In Syria, heavy fighting resumed between government forces and the rebel fighters in eastern Ghouta on Sunday, after a short period of relative calm following reports of a ceasefire late on Friday. Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said intense fighting, heavy shelling and air raids are continuing in the area.
