Following the issuance of the new constituency delimitations by the Election Commission, the new Prime Minister will need 169 votes to be elected.
Previously, according to the old constituency delimitations, 172 members' support was required to elect the Prime Minister. The total number of general seats in the National Assembly has reduced to 266, with 60 reserved seats for women, bringing the total number of seats in the National Assembly to 326.
It should be noted that the Election Commission released the list of new constituency delimitations recently. The preliminary constituency boundaries report is available on the Election Commission's website, along with the maps of the constituency boundaries.
The announcement of the preliminary constituency boundaries will remain open for 30 days until October 26th, during which objections related to the constituency boundaries can be filed by the voters of the respective constituencies.
The Election Commission has stated that decisions on objections will be made from October 28th to November 26th. Those collecting objections must be registered voters of the respective constituencies, and they can obtain the constituency maps from the Election Commission after paying a fee.
According to the Election Commission, the population of Islamabad, the federal capital, is 2,363,863. There are 3 seats for the National Assembly in Islamabad, with a quota of 787,954 for one National Assembly seat.
