ISLAMABAD - President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed the need for local production of solar panels in the country in order to bring down the cost of the safest source of energy.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of Hilton Pharma's CSR initiative Solar Energy Project to electrify 10,000 households across the country, in Karachi on Saturday.
The President said Pakistan has emerged as the fifth largest market for solar energy.
He said Pakistan has also other natural resources that could be diversified for the well-being of the masses.
He said importance of dams for water storage remains relevant but these can no more be justified for energy production other than small run of the river units to generate power at community level.
