ISLAMABAD - Finally the Cat is out of the bag, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement activist Gulalai Ismail lashed out at Pakistan after fleeing away to United States.

Gulalai Ismail who flee after being accused of treason by Islamabad, on Friday (local time) said that thousands of people in the country were killed in Pakistan in the name of eradicating terrorism.

Pashtuns were killed in Pakistan in the name of eradicating terrorism. Thousands of people are jailed in internment centres in Pakistan," she said during a protest against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in New York.

A few days ago, the activist, in an interview with Afghan journalist Bashir Ahmad Gwakh of Mashaal Radio, said she was hiding in Pakistan for nearly six months and travelled to Sri Lanka with the help of her friends before leaving for the US.

The 32-year old rights activist managed to slip last month and is now staying with her sister in Brooklyn in New York. She has also applied for political asylum in the US.

Even though she has been able to escape to America, she is still worried.

"Pakistan thinks that the US Department of State will force me to leave the US along with my family. But, I will continue my struggle in the US," Ismail told Mashaal Radio.
