LAHORE: A judge of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday praised the Pakistan army for mediating between the government and Faizabad protesters and saved the country from huge catastrophe.
Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin Ahmad during hearing of Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) leader Nasir Abbas Shirazi case, who was allegedly picked up by four armed men in an Elite Force vehicle, praised the army for its efforts in defusing the situation in Faizabad.
Justice Amin Ahmad remarked that everyone knew that the army had saved the country from a huge catastrophe. Numerous people would have been killed had the army not played a role, added the judge.
He said that the picture of martyred Major Ishaq’s daughter with her father’s coffin was proof of the army’s sacrifices for the country. “I could not sleep all night after looking at that picture.”
Justice Ahmad expressed his anger over the inability of security agencies to recover Shirazi. He said that the court was aware of their capabilities and it was not a big deal for them to ensure recovery of one person.
Justice Ahmad ordered the ISI, IB and other intelligence agencies to ensure recovery of the abductee and adjourned the hearing until December 4.
