PTI government time enhances development budget to Rs 900 billion in upcoming federal budget

The Ministry of Finance has proposed an allocation of Rs900 billion for development projects in the upcoming federal budget; Rs250 billion more than the previous year.

Over Rs99 billion have been earmarked for the water projects; Rs103 billion for energy projects, while Rs27 billion have been allocated for the improvement of health infrastructure.

Similarly, it has suggested reserving Rs75 billion for SDGs; Rs54 billion for the erstwhile FATA; Rs44 billion for special zones of the country; Rs265 billion for the transport and communication sector; Rs40 billion and 93 crore for physical planning and housing; Rs38 billion for higher education; Rs30 billion for science and technology; Rs12 billion for food and agriculture and Rs3 billion for industries.

The proposals will be presented before Planning Coordination Committee today (Friday) while the National Economic Council will approve the budget link in its meeting which will be chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
