Russia to join China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project

*ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Pakistan-Russia strategic consultation group has been underway at the Foreign Office in Islamabad, ARY News reported on Thursday.*
Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua leading the team of Pakistani officials in the dialogue, while the Russian officials being headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
The delegations exchanging views over the regional stability and security in the meeting, the foreign office spokesperson here said.
It is the 13th session of Pakistan-Russia strategic consultation group, the spokesperson further said.
Pakistan’s foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua on Wednesday proposed a seven-point roadmap for boosting Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Russia and observed that the Russian stance on recent military standoff between Pakistan and India demonstrated that the complexion of the relationship has already changed.
The foreign secretary suggested a seven-point roadmap that could forge a stronger relationship between the two countries.
She had expressed these views while speaking at Pakistan-Russia strategic relations in Islamabad.
The proposed roadmap of relations comprises of resolution of the pending issue of about $200 million of Russian money held by Pakistani banks due to a financial dispute, signing of a free trade agreement, deepening of strategic cooperation and understanding, boosting defence relations, Russian participation in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), strengthening of people to people relations and development of a regional architecture for peace and development in collaboration with likeminded countries.
