ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the first meeting of the National Internal Security Committee on Thursday.
He directed Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi take opposition parties into confidence over the National Acton Plan.
On March 17, the Qureshi had invited all political parties to discuss the implementation of NAP on Thursday. The meeting was scheduled to be held at Parliament House at 4pm.
In his invitation letter, Qureshi said NAP was the result of a national consensus achieved through consultations with all the political parties after the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.
Many opposition parties declined to participate because of different reasons. Some raised their reservations over the extension of military courts. They say that the current government wants to extend their term by two years.
During the meeting, PM Khan directed the foreign minister to remove the reservation of the opposition parties.
