ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has declared former Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz ineligible to contest elections for five years after finding him guilty of contempt of court case.
The decision was read by Supreme Court Justice Mushir Alam.
A three-judge bench of the apex court had issued a show-cause notice to Daniyal Aziz on February 19, after a contempt of court notice was sent to him over his controversial speeches and statements made during television shows.
Aziz was indicted on contempt charges by the court on March 13.
The top court had reserved its decision in the case on third of last month after both sides completed their arguments.
