Japanese businessmen to invest in Pakistan: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Minister for Finance, Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday invited the Japanese investors to take advantage of the new investment opportunities being created in Pakistan after the return of economic stability.

The Finance Minister made these remarks while talking to Takashi Kurai, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan who called on him here.

Ishaq Dar said the economic relations between the two countries are deep rooted and have a firm footing.

While acknowledging Japan's support for the power sector, he said that the government of Pakistan is determined to address the problem of energy shortage and appreciates its development partners which have extended full support in this regard.

Finance Minister also apprised the Ambassador that the government of Pakistan was fully focused on achieving economic growth and is keen to attract foreign companies to invest in the country.

Takashi Kurai conveyed his best wishes for the Prime Minister on recovering from his ailment.

The Ambassador said that the government of Japan would continue to support the efforts of the government of Pakistan to address the energy sector issues.

He also apprised the Minister of grant assistance projects being sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Ambassador Kurai said that Japanese investors have made substantial investment in Pakistan and he would encourage more such investors to come and invest in Pakistan.

He said that Japanese companies are familiar with the investment environment in Pakistan.

The Finance Minister assured Japanese Ambassador of his full support in his efforts to enhance the level of cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.
