The Taliban government in Afghanistan has asserted that it lacks a formal border with Pakistan, as reported by TOLO News on Sunday. Acting Afghan Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs Noorullah Noori stated during a visit to the Torkham border crossing that there is no recognized border or zero point with Pakistan, referring to the Durand Line as an imaginary division between the two nations.
This declaration follows the recent reopening of the Torkham border crossing for trade after a 10-day closure initiated on January 13 due to disputes over document regulations for commercial vehicle drivers.
Noori expressed that the border between Islamabad and Kabul remains unclear, emphasizing the existence of what he termed "imaginary lines" between the two countries.
The Torkham crossing, situated equidistant between the capitals of Islamabad and Kabul, experienced frequent closures last year, occasionally leading to armed clashes between border guards.
Responding to inquiries about periodic tensions along the border, Noori conveyed that Afghanistan is actively working to address and resolve such issues in a proper manner.
