NEW DELHI – In India, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says aslong as she is alive discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act will not beimplemented in Bengal.
Speaking at a programme Naihati, West Bengal, she said no one can snatchaway the rights of the people of the country like citizenship.
Banerjee said no one has to leave the country or the state and there willnot be any detention centre in Bengal.
Supporting the students’ protest across the country against the contentiousact, she said why they can vote to elect a government on turning 18 but nothave the right to protest.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people with their hands tied marched towards PrimeMinister Narendra Modi’s residence to protest against amended citizenshipact.
