India summons Pakistan High Commissioner official to Ministry of External Affairs

NEW DELHI – India on Thursday summoned a Pakistan High Commission officialto lodge a strong protest over targeting of Indian civilians and securityforces on December 21 and 26.

The release issued by Ministry of External Affairs said that New Delhiconveyed its “grave concern”.

The release added that “this year, despite repeated calls for restraint andadherence to the ceasefire understanding of 2003 for maintaining peace andtranquillity” Pakistan forces have “carried out over 1962 incidents ofunprovoked ceasefire violations.

New Delhi asked Pakistan to fulfill “its bilateral commitment to not allowany territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India inany manner.”
