ISLAMABAD – 145 Indian fishermen were released by Pakistan as a goodwill
gesture on Thursday.
Amid tight security, the fishermen arrived at the Karachi Cantonment
Railway Station from Malir jail from where they were sent to Lahore to be
handed to Indian officials at Wagah border.
According to the Indian Express, the fishermen were released following last
week s announcement by Foreign Office spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal in
which it was stated that 291 Indian fishermen would be released in two
phases till January 8.
