Pakistan Mulls joint counter terrorism strategy with Tajikistan and China against Terror Groups in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday strongly condemnedthe terrorist attack in Tajikistan that claimed the lives of three Chinesenationals, describing it as a heinous act of terrorism carried out witharmed drones near the Tajik-Afghan border.

Pakistan extended its deepest condolences to the governments and peoples ofChina and Tajikistan, expressing unwavering solidarity during this hour ofprofound grief.

The statement highlighted that the use of armed drones in the assaultdemonstrated both the escalating threat emanating from Afghan territory andthe audacity of the perpetrators.

As a country that has repeatedly endured cross-border terrorismorchestrated from Afghanistan, Pakistan said it fully comprehended the painbeing felt by its Chinese and Tajik partners.

The Foreign Office reiterated its long-standing position that Afghan soilmust not be allowed to serve as a sanctuary for terrorist groups targetingneighbouring countries or beyond.

It expressed serious concern over the continued presence and patronage ofterrorist elements under the Afghan Taliban regime, warning that this poseda grave danger to regional and international security.

Pakistan called for concrete, verifiable measures against the perpetrators,abettors, facilitators, and financiers of terrorism operating fromAfghanistan.

The ministry affirmed that Islamabad would maintain close coordination withBeijing, Dushanbe, and other regional stakeholders to foster peace,stability, and security across the shared neighbourhood.
