ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate ofAfghanistan on Thursday strongly condemned the killing of three Chinesenationals in Tajikistan’s Khatlon province and extended heartfeltcondolences to the governments and peoples of China and Tajikistan.
The incident occurred in Shamsuddin Shahin area when unidentifiedassailants opened fire on a vehicle carrying Chinese citizens, resulting inthe immediate death of all three passengers.
Afghan authorities described the attack as a deliberate attempt by hostileelements to sow discord and instability among regional countries,particularly those engaged in joint economic and infrastructure initiatives.
The statement emphasised that such acts aim to undermine trust betweenneighbouring states and derail collaborative development projects acrossCentral and South Asia.
Kabul has assured Tajik authorities of complete cooperation in theinvestigation, offering to share intelligence, provide technicalassistance, and participate in joint assessments to identify theperpetrators and their motives.
The Afghan foreign ministry reiterated its commitment to regional peace andstability, stating that the Islamic Emirate will spare no effort inpreventing the use of Afghan territory for actions that threatenneighbouring countries.
This incident marks the latest security challenge affecting Chinesenationals working on regional connectivity projects, highlighting growingconcerns over targeted attacks in Central Asia.
Both Tajikistan and China have yet to issue official responses toAfghanistan’s offer of cooperation, though diplomatic channels remainactive.
