ISLAMABAD – Daesh has adopted a new strategy to gain a foothold in Pakistan, according to security forces.

Security forces are on the alert as banned militant outfit has devised a new strategy to gain influence in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in general and Peshawar in particular.

According to details, members of Daesh picked by by security agencies have disclosed that members of the banned outfit are now operating under the guise of tailors and street vendors.

During the past five months, security agencies have nabbed as many as 55 members of Daesh from Peshawar and surrounding districts. The arrested members of the terrorist network, according to sources, had been feigning appearances of tailors and street vendors.

Security forces have issued the warning that compared to Taliban, members of Daesh are more trained and possess sophisticated security weapons. The outfit also reportedly has links to Afghanistan from where it obtains weapons as well as funding to carry out destabilizing activities in Pakistan.

A couple of months ago, security forces had broken the backs of militants in the Shahpur operation. Law enforcement agencies have vowed to never let the militant outfit gain influence in the city again.
