ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ChairmanMuhammad Saleem Baig on Saturday urged to launch effective enforcementcampaign against illegal Indian DTH, C-Line and Android Boxes and acomplete crackdown against its sales and associated activities.
Addressing Officers and Staff at Regional Office Karachi during a visit onSaturday, he instructed PEMRA officers and staff to coordinate with otherlaw enforcement agencies such as Federal Investigation Agency, CustomsIntelligence, Police and Rangers so that no room could be left for thoseindulged in this illegal business.
He further stressed upon that orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan issued inthis regard should be complied with in letter and spirit and no laxityshould be shown as illegal proliferation of Indian DTH is not onlydetrimental to our social, cultural and religious values but also causinghuge financial loss to the country’s exchequer.
Therefore, all out efforts should be made to make this campaign effectiveas this drive will also pave way for promoting Pakistani DTH, which wouldbe launched, soon.
The chairman, emphasized to implement orders of the Supreme Court ofPakistan with regard to Indian content and channels, passed today and askedthem to ensure zero tolerance to Indian Channels as well as content onPakistani TV channels and cable networks.
