New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, MunirAkram, has stated that the international community has pledged a collectivesum of $16.4 billion for Pakistan’s reconstruction and recovery.
Speaking as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations,Munir Akram expressed gratitude for the convening of an informal sessionand thanked the United Nations for its solidarity during the flood crisis.The Secretary-General of the United Nations also expressed full support forPakistan during the floods.
He mentioned that the United Nations’ programs have been instrumental inproviding assistance to flood victims and promoting unity, and theinternational community has committed $16.4 billion for Pakistan’sreconstruction and recovery.
Munir Akram emphasized that the United Nations must ensure theimplementation of commitments made to Pakistan. The recent floods havecaused the most damage in Sindh.
