Imran Khan and PTI leadership to be barred from contesting elections

Rana Sanaullah, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz(PML-N) and former interior minister, made a bold declaration on Thursday.He asserted that individuals responsible for the tumultuous events of theMay 9 riots will not be permitted to participate in elections as analternative to facing legal consequences. This statement was reportedduring an event where Rana Sanaullah addressed the audience.

In his address, Rana Sanaullah specifically pointed fingers at the PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, accusing him of displaying arrogance. Heexpressed concern that certain individuals were advocating for the PTIleader to be allowed to run in upcoming elections.

Sanaullah raised a pivotal question about who would be responsible forinvestigating the individuals involved in the attack on theYadgar-e-Shuhada memorial and the subsequent burning of Jinnah House on May9. He warned that without proper prosecution of the May 9 rioters, suchincidents could become a recurring nightmare.

Emphasizing their commitment to justice, Rana Sanaullah reiterated thatthose implicated in the May 9 riots would face the consequences if foundguilty, while the innocent would be exonerated. He clarified that thePML-N’s objective has never been vengeance, but rather to shed light onindividuals whose actions have contributed to Pakistan’s crises.

Looking ahead, Rana Sanaullah shared information about the impending returnof PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on October 21. He hinted at an imminent planto lead the nation out of its current crisis, asserting that the PML-N,under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, aims to guide Pakistan back towardsprosperity and development, emphasizing their unwavering dedication torescuing the nation from turmoil.
