On Thursday, the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reportedlyunderwent a change in his detention conditions, shifting from a B-class toa C-class detention within Adiala jail, as reported by ARY News. Thisalteration in his confinement was disclosed by sources within the prisonadministration, indicating a significant change in his living conditions.Notably, Adiala Jail had previously housed former Prime Minister ShahidKhaqan Abbasi.

The sources within the jail administration further divulged that theC-class category in Adiala Jail falls short in providing basic amenities tothe detainees. This development raises concerns about the standard ofliving and facilities available to the Chairman PTI in this new detentionclass.

Contrary to the initial reports, Superintendent Asad Warraich clarifiedthat the Chairman PTI has not been moved to any specific class but iscurrently being held in a security ward. This statement suggests that theremight be some confusion or discrepancy regarding the Chairman’s detentionclassification.

Superintendent Warraich also pointed out that former prime ministers arereceiving better facilities, including a table, a chair, and a bed. Thisdistinction in treatment between different detainees highlights the varyingconditions experienced by prisoners in the same facility.

Earlier in the week, the PTI chief and former prime minister were relocatedto Adiala Jail under tight security measures. The operation involved acaravan of Islamabad police, comprising 15 vans, two bullet-proof vehicles, and an ambulance, to safely transfer the PTI chief from Attock Jail toAdiala Jail in Rawalpindi, emphasizing the high-security nature of thisdevelopment.
