In Saudi Arabia, a visitor can use a non-resident driving license for oneyear, and there are multiple facilities offered to attract foreign touriststo the country. According to Gulf News, Saudi traffic authorities havestated that visitors are allowed to use a non-resident driving license forone year in the country.
Saudi Arabia is making efforts to diversify its economy, and attractingmore tourists is part of this initiative.The Saudi General TrafficDepartment has mentioned that a visitor can use an international drivinglicense or a valid foreign license for one year from the date of entry intothe country.
This came up when the department was answering a question about whether aperson with multiple entry visas for business purposes can use a validforeign driving license.
It is reported that in recent years, Saudi Arabia has introduced a set ofdesigned facilities to attract more foreign tourists, including theintroduction of arrival or online tourist visas for citizens of severalnationalities. In this context, in July of the previous year, Saudi Arabiainitiated a business visit electronic visa, aiming to facilitateopportunities for foreign investors in the country.
It is known that the country aims to achieve a target of 25 million foreigntourists’ arrivals this year. Therefore, in recent months, variousfacilities have been introduced for Muslim pilgrims desiring to performUmrah, allowing Muslims with various types of entry visas to perform Umrahand visit the Prophet’s Mosque ﷺ. Saudi citizens can also invite theirforeign friends to visit the country and perform Umrah, as well as applyfor a visa. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has introduced a stopover transitvisa.
