ISLAMABAD – The Prime Minister, Imran Khan is facing one of the toughestchallenge in his administrative affairs.
He is under tremendous pressure to make exceptions to the government’sinter-provincial transfer policy for civil servants.
Certain blue-eyed bureaucrats in the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)provincial governments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are exerting unduepressure in the case, Ansar Abbasi has revealed .
The source in the PM Office said the Secretary Establishment is expected tobe summoned soon by the PM, possibly to discuss the cancellation of severaltransfer orders issued but not yet complied with.fear that if Imran Khanwere to succumb to the pressure of influential civil servants, the PTIgovernment’s promise of de-politicising the civil bureaucracy could bedispensed with.
Within a fortnight of assuming office, PM Khan amended the rotation policyfor civil servants and directed the Establishment Division to implement thepolicy without exception .
The amended policy includes a new clause, which reads: “PAS/PSP (PakistanAdministrative Service/Police Service of Pakistan) officers of Basic PayScale (BPS)-21 and below, who have served in any provincial government orfederal government for a continuous period of not less than 10 years, maybe transferred to the federal government or other provinces, as the casemay be, in the public interest.”
