ISLAMABAD – US President Donald Trump on Friday said that Washington andNew Delhi may announce a “very big” trade deal.
“I think we going to have some very big things to announce. Very big tradedeal. We are doing big things with India in terms of trade, in terms ofmanufacturing,” Trump said at the beginning of his bilateral meeting withIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Japan’s Osaka, as aired by the Foxtelevision network.
Trump also congratulated the Indian prime minister on his landslide victoryin the general elections.
The United States imposed 25 percent tariffs on imported steel and 10percent tariffs on aluminium in March 2018.
India condemned the move since the country is one of the largest steelproducers in the world. However, India’s retaliatory duties were postponedsix times, in view of the trade dialogue between the two countries. -Sputnik
