ISLAMABAD – PTI government returned back record foreign loans in firstyear, senior leader has claimed.
Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) led federal government has retired recordforeign loans worth $9.5 billion during its first year in power.
Minister of State for Revenue, Hammad Azhar, made this revelation inNational Assembly on Friday.
On the point of personal explanation, Hammad rubbished opposition’s claimthat the government obtained domestic loans Rs. 7000 billion or Rs. 10,000billion during its first year. He said it was a completely wrong and highlyexaggerated statement.——————————
He explained that unlike opposition’s claim, the country’s foreign loansrose by $2.7 billion as compared to last year of Pakistan MuslimLeague-Nawaz (PML-N) government when foreign debts increased by over $7billion.
He said that the government had already shared the debt profile in thehouse which carries details of all debts taken.
Azhar went on to highlight the fact that during the last ten years,Pakistan’s total debt and liabilities had risen from Rs. 6100 billion toRs. 31000 billion.
