*KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday once againcalled for former finance minister Miftah Ismail on July 5 in illegalcontract case.*
The NAB has asked the former finance minister to appear before theaccountability bureau on July 5th (Thursday), previously he had also beensummoned by NAB on June 20th .
The NAB in a statement had alleged that Ismail approved awarding of illegalcontracts to Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL) during his tenure aschairman of Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd.
Ismail served as the chairman of SSGC from November 2013 to October 2017.He was named advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and EconomicAffairs late last year, before being promoted to the role of federalfinance minister in April 2018.
It was also suspected that five expensive gas fields were contracted toJJVL in violation of the Supreme Court’s orders and Miftah Ismail approvedthe contracts during a board of directors meeting chaired by him.
