ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Friday welcomed the adoption of Organization ofIslamic Conference (OIC)-led resolution by the United Nations Human RightsCouncil (HRC) in response to grave violations of international law andhuman rights by Israel.
“Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and shares theinternational community’s expectation for effective implementation of thisresolution to ensure respect for international law as well as for rightsand dignity of the people of Palestine,” the Foreign Office said.
The HRC special session and its decision to establish a standinginternational commission of inquiry to investigate human rights violationsrepresent global resolve to end systemic impunity and injustice and begin aprocess of meaningful accountability.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a tweet acknowledged in thisregard the untiring efforts of Ambassador Munir Akram at United Nations andPakistan’s ambassador in Geneva Ambassador Khalil Hashmi for leaving nostone unturned in their diplomacy for the just cause of Palestine.
