NEPRA recommends raising electricity tarrifs in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – National Electric and Power Regulator Authority (NEPRA) onTuesday recommended raising power tariff by another 55 paisa per unit.

As per details garnered, NEPRA officials chaired a meeting here inIslamabad to review request of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) aimedat rising power tariff.

CPPA cited soaring bill of imported LNG behind recommendation.

A total 9,717.38 Gwh electricity was generated during the said period andthe hydel share stood at 22.94 per cent, coal 10.34 per cent, Furnace Oil4.95 per cent, local Gas 18.42 per cent, RLNG 30.83 per cent, nuclear 7.67per cent wind 2.75 per cent and Baggasse 0.68 per cent.

NEPRA further decided not to RLNG-powered plants in June.
