ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with President XiJinping in Beijing on Sunday. The two leaders were accompanied by Ministersand senior-level delegations.
Reaffirming ‘All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership’ betweenPakistan and China, the two leaders exchanged views on the entire gamut ofbilateral relations in a warm and cordial atmosphere. They affirmed theresolve to further strengthen their strategic cooperative partnership inall fields including political, security, economic and trade, andpeople-to-people exchanges.
Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked President Xi for the warm and graciouswelcome accorded to him in China and for China’s steadfast support toPakistan on all issues. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support to China onall issues of its core interest.
Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated President Xi on the successfulconvening of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum which is a practical manifestationof his far-reaching vision, and highlighted its significance as animportant international platform for connectivity and sharing of experienceamong the BRI participating countries.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unflinching commitment to China-Pakistan EconomicCorridor, the Prime Minister highlighted CPEC’s next phase and itsextension into new areas of agriculture, industrial development, andsocio-economic uplift with livelihood projects.
President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s unwavering support to Pakistan’ssovereignty and territorial integrity and appreciated the government’sagenda for socio-economic development and people-centered progress. Heaffirmed that China-Pakistan ties would continue to acquire greaterstrength and deepen practical cooperation in the time to come.
The two sides also exchanged views on the regional situation, including inAfghanistan and South Asia. President Xi further expressed China’sappreciation for Pakistan’s sustained and successful efforts in the fightagainst terrorism and to create a peaceful neighborhood.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the close cooperation between thetwo countries at multilateral fora and resolved to further deepencommunication and coordination at all levels. They also agreed to keep themomentum of high-level exchanges between the two countries.

Prime Minister Imran Khan held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier LiKeqiang at the conclusion of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing. Thetwo Prime Ministers were accompanied by Ministers and senior officials.
Both leaders reaffirmed the time-tested and strong friendship betweenPakistan and China and exchanged views on the myriad facets of bilateralengagement.
The Prime Minister extended felicitations to the Chinese leadership on thesuccessful holding of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum. Noting the depth andbreadth of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Prime Minister said it was ofimmense significance for the world in terms of connectivity and sharedprosperity.
The two sides exchanged views on bilateral collaboration in the context ofCPEC and prospects of further deepening economic linkages. The PrimeMinister underscored the importance of CPEC for Pakistan’s economy andnoted with satisfaction its expansion into new areas of development,including industrial development, livelihood projects, social uplift, andagriculture in line with the priorities of government. He hoped thatChinese investment in Specialized Economic Zones would expand Pakistan’sindustrial base and assist in diversifying its export basket.
