*KARACHI: The New Gwadar International Airport is expected to be completedwithin the period of three years.*
Sources privy to the matter told that the cost of the project was about Rs40 billion. The airport is one of the major projects under theChina-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The airport is being built with the Chinese help, sources informed.
Secretary aviation will brief the Prime Minister Imran Khan as he visitsthe port city on Friday.
PM Imran Khan will visit Gwadar port, where he would be briefed ondifferent development projects being executed under the China-PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC), a state-of-the-art oil refinery and thepetrochemical complex.
The prime minister would arrive in Karachi on Friday evening to chairKarachi transformation committee meeting. The sources said that the premierwould address a public meeting in Ghotki on March 30 and would holdmeetings with the leaders of collation parties.
The Senate Standing Committee on Planning was informed on March 18 thatground-breaking of new Gwadar International Airport will be performed bythe end of March.
Director General, Planning and Development Gwadar Port Authority, MunirAhmed Jan, had recently said the Gwadar Port development would lead togeneration of various employment opportunities for locals.
He stated that Gwadar airport will have the capacity to welcome one of thelargest planes, A-380
