Orange Line Metro Train Project alleged corruption case opened

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiryinto the alleged corruption into the Orange Line Metro Train Project.

NAB has launched the investigation against Lahore Orange Metro Line project.

NAB has written a letter to Director General (DG) Lahore DevelopmentAuthority (LDA), Zahid Zaman, in this regard.

In the letter, the NAB has sought details of tenders of the mega projectalong with its other monetary details, the reports stated. The NAB hasordered the director general to provide the records immediately.

Earlier, NAB* arrestedlink>*former directorgeneral LDA Ahad Cheema, and the chief executive officer of BismillahEngineering Company, Shahid Siddiqui in the Ashiana Housing scam.

NAB started the investigation of Ashiana scam after the officials of Punjabgovernment ordered to cancel the award of the contract of Ashiana-e-Iqbalto successful bidder Chaudhary Latif and sons, leading to handing over thecontract to Lahore Casa Developers (JV) a proxy of Paragon City (Pvt)Limited which resulted in the loss of Rs 193 million approximately.

The mega project will be immense as nearly 0.25 million commuters willtravel via Orange Line train and it would make commute easy for everyone,the Punjab government has stated, adding that a distance of 27 kilometresfrom Darogawala to Thokar Niaz Baig will be covered in merely 45 minutes.
