Russian forces seized two small cities in southeastern Ukraine and the areaaround a nuclear power plant.
According to reports, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces have takenover the towns of Berdyansk and Enerhodar in Ukraine’s southeasternZaporizhzhya region as well as the area around the Zaporizhzhya nuclearpower plant.
According to Ukrainian authorities blasts were heard before dawn today inthe capital of Kyiv and in the major city of Kharkiv. They added thatRussian ground forces’ attempts to capture major urban centres have beenrepelled. Ukraine denied that the nuclear plant has fallen into Russianhands.
Meanwhile, Ukraine said negotiations with Moscow without preconditionswould be held at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
