Pakistan Cricket Board seeks written assurances from India for T20 World Cup

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ehsan Mani on Sundayhas said that Pakistan demanded written assurances from India on the safetyand visas of every stakeholder for the participation in T20 World Cup.

Mani said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) in its contingencyplan made UAE a back-up option, if India failed to host the tournament forany reason later.

“Our government has never told us that we can’t play (in India),” Mani toldreporters in Karachi.

He further said that they have agreed with the ICC that they are going toparticipate and can’t contravene that.

“I have clearly said we need a written assurance from the India governmentthat not only our team and squad’s visas, we also need visas for fans,journalists and the board officials,” he added.

Given the strained relationship between India and Pakistan, the ICC hasbeen working together with the boards to obtain assurances for Pakistan’sparticipation.
