Important understandings reached between PM Imran Khan and Qatari Amir Tamim Bin Hamad

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated Pakistan’s continuedsupport for an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.

Talking to Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during his day-long visitto Doha today (Thursday), he appreciated Qatar’s valuable role leading tothe U.S.-Taliban peace agreement due to be signed on Saturday.

The two leaders expressed the hope that all Afghan stakeholders would seizethis historic opportunity to reach an inclusive political settlement forthe establishment of durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Both the leaders exchanged views on the existing excellent bilateralrelations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the robust politicaland economic partnership existing between the two brotherly countries.

The two countries agreed to further enhance economic cooperationespecially in the energy sector. It was also agreed to immediately activatethe bilateral Joint Working Group on Commerce and Investment and the M.O.Uon Cooperation in the fields of Tourism and Business Events.

The Prime Minister also briefed the Emir of Qatar on the continuing gravehuman rights violations in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir under theRSS-inspired BJP government.

He expressed deep concern over the ongoing anti-Muslim riots in India whichhave been precipitated by the Hindutva inspired ideology of the currentIndian government.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah MahmoodQureshi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis andHuman Resource Development Syed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari, Special Assistantto the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar and senior officials.
