Israeli Military war crimes: UN report reveals shooting women and children with live direct fire

ISLAMABAD – Zionist regime security forces may have committed war crimesover the killing of nearly 200 Palestinians at protests in Gaza last year, the United Nations said in a report released on Thursday.

The investigative committee of the United Nations Human Rights Council thathas been looking into the 2018 Israeli attacks on Gaza protestors said inthe report it found that Israeli forces violated international law,Palestine News Network said.

The committee’s chairman, Santiago Canton, said at the beginning of thesession that his panel had found that the vast majority of the Palestinianprotesters were unarmed.

The council found that many children were killed, some directly by livefire, and that the Israelis directly shot journalists who were, accordingto the council, clearly marked as such.

When asked whether Zionist regime intentionally shoots children andjournalists, Council member Sara Hussein confirmed saying the councilbelieves Israel knew they were children and journalists and shot themnonetheless.

“There is no justification for shooting children and disabled people thatpose no risk,” Hussein said.

“While some deaths may have been examined by the Israel Defense Forces’internal ‘fact-finding assessment,’ criminal investigations were opened inonly five cases, including the deaths of four children,” the report says.

According to data in a United Nations report released last month andconfirmed by Israeli officials, 295 Palestinians have killed and about6,000 wounded by live ammunition since the demonstrations’ inception. -IRNA
