Is February 5 a public holiday in Pakistan?

The Cabinet Division has designated 5 February as a public holiday inobservance of “Kashmir Solidarity Day.” A circular, dated 26th January 2024and uploaded on the Cabinet Division’s website, announced the decision inaccordance with a previous circular from 20th December 2023. Thedeclaration includes a one-minute silence at 1000 hours to honor KashmiriShuhada.

Expressing unwavering support for Kashmiris on Solidarity Day, Pakistan hastaken this step to commemorate the significance of the occasion.

The circular has been distributed to various key offices and authorities,including the Secretary to the President, Secretary to the Prime Minister,Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, Auditor General of Pakistan, JointStaff Headquarters, Pakistan Army General Headquarters, Chairman of theNational Accountability Bureau, Federal Ministers/Ministers ofState/Advisors and Special Assistants to the Prime Minister,Secretaries/Additional Secretaries (In-Charge) of Ministries/Divisions,Secretaries of Senate and National Assembly Secretariats, Chief Secretariesof Provincial, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan Governments,Accountant General Pakistan Revenue.

All Inspector Generals of Police, Registrar of Supreme Court of Pakistan,Registrar of Federal Shariat Court, Registrar of Islamabad High Court,Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence, Director General ofIntelligence Bureau, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory,Manager of State Bank of Pakistan in Islamabad, Secretary of WafaqiMohtasib’s Secretariat, and Secretary of Wafaqi Tax Ombudsman Secretariat,among others.
