Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir Saturday announced that all themembers of the caretaker cabinet including the Chief Minister Punjab SyedMohsin Raza Naqvi will, voluntarily, not take salaries.
Amir Mir, while briefing about the cabinet’s first meeting, said thecabinet agreed to take all measures to ensure free and transparentelections in the province.
He said the cabinet decided to take all the important and necessary stepsto keep the writ of the state intact in the province.
In the meeting presided over by Punjab chief minister Mohsin Naqvi, thecabinet decided that the Inspector General (IG) Punjab and other policeofficials will hold open courts to solve the problems of the public on thespot.
A fund of Rs1 billion was approved for the families of the martyred policeofficers and the stipend that was given to their widows was also raisedfrom Rs2500 to Rs25000. The rules for the recruitment of children of themartyred officers were also relaxed.
The situation of availability of flour and wheat was also discussed and themeeting decided to ensure the accessibility of cheap flour. Moreover,Mohsin Naqvi advised the cabinet to start planning for Ramazan right awayso that the public can be given as much relief as possible in the holymonth.
CM Punjab Naqvi also announced a strict and massive crackdown against thesuppliers of ICE and other drugs in educational institutions and orderedindiscriminate action against land grabber groups and the land mafia.
Dr. Javed Akram, SM Tanveer, Ibrahim Murad, Bilal Afzal, Jamal Nasir,Mansoor Qadir, Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, Aamir Mir, Chief Secretary ZahidAkhtar Zaman, IG Police Dr. Usman Anwar and related officials attended thecabinet meeting.
