Pakistan Turkey Free Trade Agreement talks held

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Turkey had discussed the specific sectorsincluding textile during the seventh round of negotiations on Free TradeAgreement between the two countries.

Secretary Ministry of Commerce, Younas Dhaga in an interview said thatafter signing of new FTA with Turkey both the countries will be able toimprove their trade balance.

He said that priority of the government was to promote trade liberalizationfor searching new potential markets in different parts of the world toincrease the country’s trade.

Secretary Commerce said that after the conclusion of bilateral FTA,Pakistan will get market space in agriculture and pharmaceutical sector inTurkey.

Replying to another question, he said that Pakistan has started initialnegotiation for proposed Free Trade Agreement with Vietnam and Indonesia toexplore the potential market of South East Asia.

He said the 10th round on FTA negotiation would start between Pakistan andThailand by next month.
