LAHORE: An election tribunal of the Lahore High Court (LHC) imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Hamid Hameed over his failure to submit a reply in an election petition against his success in NA-90 constituency.
The court directed the MNA to deposit the fine in the dams fund. The tribunal comprising Justice Shahid Waheed passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by runner-up Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Nadia Aziz.
The petitioner had submitted that the respondent legislator won election from NA-90 Sargodha, through rigging.
She pleaded with the court to declare his election null and void and to order the election commission to hold afresh elections in the constituency.
