Punjab govt rejects job quota for transgender community

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly session was held under the chairmanship of Rana Iqbal while drugs Bill Punjab and amend bill Fatima Jinnah Medical University were passed by Punjab Assembly in this session.

As per details, government was questioned by a Member Punjab Assembly about reserve job quota for transgender community. In reply government refused to reserve job quota for transgender community saying that government did not know about the numbers of transgender in Punjab so they would have to apply in open merit to get job in government department.

While approving the amend bill drugs Punjab and Fatima Jinnah Medical University, government rejected amendments of opposition.
