Highest level security meeting held in Islamabad with PM Khan in chair

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting and discussed matters pertaining to national security.

Besides others, the meeting was attended by Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Minister of State for Interior Sheharyar Afridi, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Director General Inter Services Intelligence and DG ISPR. Earlier today, the Foreign Office (FO link) has clarified that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent comments on Afghanistan have been reported out of context in the media which led to unwarranted reaction from various quarters.

In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said the prime minister had referred to Pakistan’s model, where elections are held under an interim government.
