Indian Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi wants Pakistan like voting system: Report

*NEW DELHI: Congress President Rahul Gandhi has called for using of ballot papers in India like Pakistan employ in its elections.*

While addressing the media, Gandhi said that if Pakistan can use ballot papers then India should consider doing so as well as it could save a lot of electricity which gets wasted to keep the machines operational for hours.

“Using Ballot papers instead of electronic voting machines will help save us a lot of electricity which gets wasted during 10 hours while the EVM is ON,” he added.

According to Times, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘If Pakistan can use Ballot Papers for it’s elections, why can’t India?”

Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) are being used in Indian General and State Elections to implement electronic voting in part from 1999 elections and recently in 2017 state elections. Ballot Papers have been replaced by the ENMs in India.

Earlier this year as well, the Congress asserted that the Election Commission should go back to using ballot in order to ensure credibility to the election process.

His comments came as voting for Pakistan general elections trended worldwide.
