ISLAMABAD - India gets a strong snub from the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.

US Commission on International Religious Freedom has strongly condemned the deadly violence against Muslims in Indian capital New Delhi.

In a statement, the watchdog noted with grave concern that Indian police did not intervene to protect Muslims from mob attacks in clear violation of international human rights.

The Commission called for serious efforts by Indian government to protect Muslims and other minorities from brutal and unchecked violence.

Earlier, in its last year's Annual Report, the US watchdog had classified India as a “Tier 2” country for engaging in and tolerating religious freedom violations.
