ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday summoned National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer on March 12, in a case challenging Abdul Ghani Majeed – son of Omni Group head Anwar Majeed’s arrest warrants.
An IHC divisional bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani heard the case.
NAB prosecutor Rizwan Ahmed raised objections on maintainability of the plea and court’s jurisdictions in the matter. He pleaded the court that the matter was pertaining to Karachi so it came in the jurisdiction of Sindh High Court.
Justice Aamer Farooq inquired the NAB prosecutor either the NAB Islamabad office was authorized to issue arrest warrants as the investigation was under process in Karachi.
At this, the NAB prosecutor said NAB chairman and director general were authorized to issue arrest warrants.
However, the petitioner’s counsel contended that NAB served notice to his client for appearance despite it knew that his client was languishing in Malir jail. Later, the department issued arrest warrants on non-appearance, he said.
After hearing arguments, the bench summoned NAB investigation officer on March 12.
