ISLAMABAD: Despite of government measures to increase literacy rate 50.8 million children aged 5 to 16 in the country do not receive education. 20.68 million children are enrolled in schools while 24.40 million children are out of schools and 10.86 million children have never enrolled in schools.
As per details, a report of Education Management Information System Report revealed that 9% of the primary schools lack school buildings while 18% of the primary schools consist of only one classroom.
29% primary schools in Pakistan have only one teacher. The report further stated that 38% of the primary schools do not have basic facilities and poor condition of the buildings.
The report also revealed that 34% of the primary schools do not have water facility while 44% schools are deprived of electricity adding that Pakistan comes on second after Nigeria in the world where 24 million children are out of school.
60% high level schools are private while 40% schools are governments. Only 28% children succeed to get education of 10thclass. Report added.
