Supreme Court responds over the COAS General Qamar Bajwa extension review petition by PTI government

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court responds over the COAS General Qamar Bajwaextension review petition by PTI government.

Supreme Court (SC) on Friday has approved government’s review petition overthe case pertaining to extension of the service of Chief of the Army Staff(COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.

According to details, the plea has been allotted number for initialhearing. However, it will be heard as per the directives of Chief Justiceof Pakistan (CJP).

It is to be mentioned here that the review petition has pleaded with thecourt to constitute a larger bench, and to nullify the given judgment inthe case. It has further requested the court to conduct in-camera hearingsof the matter.

Earlier on Thursday, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister FaroghNaseem held a meeting with Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Anwar MansoorKhan in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) for consultation before filinga review petition.

The Supreme Court, a month ago, had allowed extension/reappointment of GenBajwa for another six months and asked the government to determine thetenure, terms and conditions of the service of the army chief throughlegislation within the period.
