The anticipated date for Pakistan’s upcoming general elections in 2024 isJanuary 28th, with today as the deadline for objecting to the preliminaryconstituencies submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Reliable sources indicate that this election date is set for a Sunday, andthe ECP is expected to formally inform the Supreme Court in two days. TheCommission is actively preparing for the elections based on this proposeddate.
Notably, President Arif Alvi recently expressed concerns about potentialelection delays in an interview with a private TV channel, casting doubt onthe scheduled late-January timeframe. However, the ECP promptly dismissedrumors of election postponement, asserting that all preparations for thegeneral elections were completed.
The election calendar will be made public once the final constituencypublication is released. The deadline for submitting objections to the ECPregarding preliminary constituencies is today, with an eight-hour extensionprovided by the commission.
The review of objections will occur between October 28 and November 26, andthe final constituencies will be released on November 30. Additionalguidelines are available for raising objections.
